Utah Writers League to Hold Roundup in Provo Saturday Writers from thruout Utah will gather to "Round Up Your Word Power" this weekend as they enjoy the western hospitality hospi-tality offered by the Utah Val ley Chapter, League of Utah Writers. Governor Calvin L. Rampton has declared the week of Sept. 7 through 13 as Writers' Round- up Week in Utah and called upon up-on all citizens, in partnership with private and civic organizations organiza-tions to join in community ef-fords ef-fords to give meaning to this special week dedicated to recognition rec-ognition of Utah writers. There are approximately 150 members of the League of Utah Writers, with a number of other oth-er interested unaffiliated writers writ-ers also expected to be on hand for the Writers' Roundup. Four local chapters are presently functioning, with groups meeting meet-ing on a regular basis in Salt Lake City, Ogden, Sevier Valley Vall-ey and Utah Valley. The three-day event will include in-clude a reception for League members and guest speakers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Her-bert E. McLean, 2995 Apache Way, Friday. Registration for the Roundup will be held at the Royal Inn, Provo, from 8 to 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 with Rodello Hunter, Scott Whitak-er Whitak-er and Paul D. Bailey to be featured speakers. A luncheon for the guest speakers will be held at the Riverside Country Club. Carol Lynn Pearson will open the afternoon seminar session at 1:30 p.m. followed by Youell Warner. A panle with all five guest speakers will include Mr. Bailey as moderator. A tour of the BYU Motion Picture Studios, hosted by Mr. Whitaker, will begin at 4:45 p.m. The annual awards banquet ban-quet will be held at the Royal Inn at 7:30 p.m., with prizes in fiction, non-fiction, plays and regional literature contests to be awarded. Cash prizes, books, gold quill pins and diamonds will be presented to winners. Mrs. Hunter will speak on "Tea, Sympathy and Ten Percent." Per-cent." A Poet's Breakfast will conclude con-clude the Roundup, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Mrs. Pearson Pear-son will discuss poetry, reading read-ing selections of her own successful suc-cessful verse, and prizes in the poetry contests will be awarded General chairman of the Roundup is Betty G.
