Show Karl A. Scheid, Candidate for City Commissioner I Karl Scheid needs .no introduction to the citizens of Salt Lake, having lived here lor upwards of twenty-five years during which time he has taken an active part in business affairs. He came here from Pennsylvania and engaged en-gaged in the insuranct business, beginning be-ginning at the bottom of the ladder and working up until he became manager man-ager of the Board of Fire Underwriters Underwrit-ers for the district comprising Utah and part of Idaho. Subsequently he was appointed city recorder and his work in that position has been marked by skill and efficiency. Mr. ScheiCT is in every way qualified to serve the city with credit to himself and beneficially bene-ficially to the community by virtuo of his familiarity with the details of city government. If elected he will serve the whole community and not any particular section as he is directly and materially material-ly interested in the welfare of each municipal ward equally on the east and west sides. Air. Scheid 'believes that a city commissioner should devote de-vote his entire time and attention to the city and not to personal affairs. The commissioner should be a jepre-sentative jepre-sentative not of any particular section, sec-tion, but a champion of the city's interest in-terest as a whole and should foe elected without regard to 'political affiliations. af-filiations. He contends that public improvements improve-ments should go forward as rapidly as possible, l)ut not without due consideration consid-eration for the tax 'burden imposed upon the property owner, small and large. That preference -Jn the em- M iployment of workmen should bo given M to citizens of the United States or M those having declared their intention M of becoming citizens, and more par M ticularly to bona fide residents of this H city who are heads of families. He believes that we should have a mu- M nicipal ibath house at the Warm M Springs and that the emergency hos- pital should be properly equipped to M perform its functions. (Adv.)
