The contest consists of 47 nominees: 26 for queen and 21 for king. Voting began Friday and continues today in the Student Center. Instead of having a pageant to select the Homecoming Queen , a new format is being installed this year. In place of a Homecoming court there will be a King. The King and Queen will reign over all Homecoming festivities. Contestants for King and Queen were nominated by members of the student body and clubs and organizations and are sponsored by either various clubs and organizations. This new procedure for selecting the King and Queen changes the format to more of a popularity, personality contest The student body actually chooses its own Icing and queen by a majority vote. Reasons for the change, according to Lisa Pearce, vice president of activities, is that, "universities across the nation are moving toward this format and this change will also allow more monies and emphasis to be placed on the Miss SUU pageant." This year's Homecoming Royalty nominees for King are: Rick Plumhof, Joe Hayes, Jeff Hadlock, Scott Garrett, Scott Judd, Bryan Green, Kevin Heaton, Mike Gentile, Jason Damron, Seth Guysler, Chad Finister, Kelly Catver, Drew Moren, Todd Drummond, Jake Shewmake, Rhett Murray, Brett Barton, Chad Atwood, Ryan Turner, Nale Fakahua, and Clay Shumway. Nominees for Queen are: Shaunda Brown, Shelly Hollinger, Steffanie Longmore, Ann Elizabeth Embley, Nadine Swallow, Jennilyn Prior, Angie Edwards, Jodi Hart, Kara Bowen, Tia Ragona, Sheri Sorensen, Carma Niemann, Nikki Nicholas, Krystal Walker, Karen Jensen, Kathy Carver, Amy Kearsley, Bonnie Hennefer, Angie Cook, Jenny Minster, Samantha Taylor, Becca Hadlock, Lynette Batt, Camille Bullock, Mandi Gillespie and Natalie Tramell.
