Show THE CIRCUS Si 1 I A Big show and a Good One The tents of W W Coles circUs were fairly jammed esterday after noon and evening every seat and much of the open space being Oecu > pied To say that none were dis appointed would be to asume a little more responsibility thai 1 We are prepared for at present for the white elephant failed to ancea But some of the beet vaulting turn bling and riding ever seen here were presented and the vast audience seemed Quite satisfied with the entire performance They might well be for he pro gramme was faithluliy cairied out and some of the most startling acts of agility nerve and kH were per formed The pyramidal exercises by the Arabs wera juit as repre sented on the b lie and were almost marvelous the audience held their breaths while the human fly walked head downward along the suspended plae the bicycle per formances on the tight wire were the beat things of the kind ever ex hiblted here the skating acts were not hackneyed and tiresome exhibi tions displayed here so often but were the pjetry of motion as well as the consummation of skill The bareback riding was the best ever done in Salt Lake with the possible exception of that ot the great Robinson and the per formances of the trained stallions was suci as to almost justify the statement of Robert Bunner that horses would yet be learned to talk The clowns introduced some new business and new features cropped out everywhere The vast sea ef faces gave a verdct which we are unable to dipute that Coles is the best circus fiat has yet visited Salt Lake About noon very imps ng street parade took place one of the largest elephants in the world being a conspicuous con-spicuous figure in the caravan a t lot of boys occupied the car on his back who must have been perfectly satisfied when their trip was over their beigat from the ground and the jostling j steps of tae animal being be-ing somewhat suggestive of s = a sfckne3S One gratifying feature of the show is the urbanity and gentlemanly gentle-manly conduct of its employees They did their best to make every thing phasant for their patrons hunting up seas for late comers and acting generally so much unlike un-like the usual circus attache that the fact deserves this mention Those in charge of the menagerie department answered all questions affably and promptly responded when requested to stir up the animals > ani-mals Everybody was made as pleasant as he could be in such a vast multitude The show will be open again this ternnon at 2 and in the evening at 8 which latter will be the closing performance in Salt Lake Those who desire three hours excellent pastime can obtain it at Coles circus |
