Swimmers To Second Victory The American Fork Swimming Team has a new coach this year, Terry Hutchinson, who has led them to their second victory of the season. Both squads, having barely returned from a tournament down in Moab, were beaten badly at Bus Manning Field Monday night. The Little Acorns blanked the Bullets 9-0 while the Stingers wrecked Don's 11-2. In the opening game, the Little Acorns showed they were impossible for the Bullets to crack. The former's awesome power was first shown in the top of the first. Rod Cloward, for example, singled in Clay Grant Teammate Lonnie G leave outdid Cloward'i feat with a two-run double bit to left field Gleave improved on hit hitting power with a one-run homer in the top of the third. Little Acorn Donnia Valguardson came very dose in the top of the fifth to equaling G leave's performance. After seeing impressive flies of his caught in the first and third innings, he took satisfaction in doubling in two runs. He then stole third base on an error. A sacrifice fly by Gleave brought him home. Butch Dunn closed Little Acorn scoring with a fifth-inning home run. His homer was a minor thing compared to his pitching. His night waa a pitcher's dream. With his - pitching arm swinging, he struck out ; seven Bullets. Also, he allowed only . one base hit, that of Craig Roberts . In the bottom of the fifth. Even though Roberts did not succumb to Dunn in the inning, he failed to get around the diamond. While he tried stealing second base, he was tagged by Larry Larson. With the exception of Roberts, the sly DeSst who touched a base in the fame was) Dha Frandsen, and he was v&d by Dunm. The rest of the Bullets experienced tkw frustration of captured flies, ftr!kufca and ground-outs. The Bullets' frustration was shared by Don's. The Donites could not mount much of a tough battle against the Stingers. In the first inning, for example, the . Stingers thumped them with five runs, of which two came on a double shot by Randy Hoover. Donite Doug DawdaU reacted to those runs with a ', double belted to center field, bringing in Bucky Piatt in the bottom of the first. DawdaU made the only other Donite run during the bottom of the fourth. The Donltee' situation worsened In ' the second inning when Sticgers Jack Young and Gary Carlton both hit two-run doubles. The first Stinger widened hit team's lead when he came home on a passed ball in the inning. . -j w:,"v...' !""" t as vvVVY f lit"1" GREG COLMAN dives to start a relay Franson; Individual Medley, Tad Da vies; Breast Stroke, Doug Bateman; Free Relay, Mike Sowby, Doug Bateman, Chris Herrerah and Chris Roberts.
