Show Lakeside KcticH, March 12, 1981, Page Sand Ridge to Give Awards Sand Ridge Junior High School PTSA is holding a lasagne dinner and awards assembly on Thursday March 26. The dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. in the lower commons area of the school. Entertainment during dinner will be provided by the schools stage band, pep band, the Sandsations, and various solo and ensemble groups. Following the dinner at 7:30 p.m. will be the awards assembly. Winners for the schools reflections contest ROY HANDYMAN REPAIR will be announced and $100 in cash prizes will be awarded. Science fair winners will also be announced during the assembly and another $100 in cash prizes will be awarded to them." The winners of the schools spelling contests will be announced at the end of the awards assembly. The dinner and assembly will cost $1 per child under 12, $2 per adult, or $8 per family. The seventh graders will be serving the dinner. ' Honored at Medical Center uJ LAYTON Hospital volunteers attending an awards luncheon were told that the population served by Davis North Medical Center should grow 47 percent within the next 10 years. Davis North administrator Dean Holman told the group that the bulk of the expected growth will be comprised of young families, creating special needs for services in pediatric and maternity care and outpatient surgery. The volunteer luncheon, an annual event for the organization, was highlighted by the awarding of service pins marking total hours served at the hospital since the opening of the facility in the fall of 1976. Among the leaders receiving awards were Fosteen Cordon, Layton (2225 hours) , Miriam Taylor, Layton, (2118), Doris Rhodes, Syracuse (1863), Nondas Sturmer, Kaysville (1656), Barbara Yurth, Layton (1655), Ellen Seegmiller, Clearfield (1577), Nina Palmer, Kaysville (1568) and Norma Mumford, Kaysville (1538). Three members of the volunteer youth auxiliary, the VolunTeens, were also awarded special pins. Art, Crafts To Be Displayed At Layton Mall QZ3ECB3 GSSEenarn PHTOPI7 klVl:Y LAYTON An arts and crafts show will be held at the Layton Hills Mall during the week of March The show will feature both local and international artists in a number of different art mediums. , Art works to be displayed will include oils, watercolors, oriental acrylics, wood carvings, pen and ink drawings and graphics. Crafts such as metal sculptures, weavings, pottery, paper tole, wood work and flower arrangements will also be shown. Members of the World Wide Artist Shows will be present during the entire show and local artist Paul Jex of Salt Lake City will be participating with a n watercolor paintings for display of his children. John Gallanaugh, 44, of 83 Atherton Way, was in critical condition Wednesday morning at Davis North Medical Center where he was taken after being founds at about 1 a.m. Sunday by Officer Dale May. He had' been arrested Saturday.' Lt. Morton Sparks said Gallanaugh apparently hung himself using his tee shirt tied to the bars of the cell. Sparks said it had been only 10 to 15 minutes since Gallanaugh had last been observed by officers. May began resuscitation efforts and paramedics were called.
