Show Deseret Pioneer Dies At 90 Years of Age Charles Henry Cahoon, one of the oldest residents of Deseret, died at his home on Tuesday evening, even-ing, May 7, at the age of ninety years. He was born in Big Cottonwood, Cotton-wood, Salt Lake County, Sept. 10, 1856,, a son of Daniel Styler Cahoon Ca-hoon and Martha Spencer Cahoon. His parents were among the earliest colonists in Deseret, years before the present town of Deseret was built up. Mr. Cahoon had lived all his life there, and ran his farm. Mr. Cahoon was married to Betsy Bet-sy Kinder on Oct. 25, 1895, and were later married in the L. D. S. temple on April 11, 1899. Mrs. Cahoon Ca-hoon died Jan. 7, 1923. They raised her son, Hyrum H. Maxfield, who is now deceased, and of their family, Le Roy Cahoon, is deceased. Their children who survive are Wallace Cahoon, of Los Angeles; Randell Cahoon, Deseret; Mrs. Fauntella Dillenbeck, Hinckley, and Mrs. Lorrain Church, Delta. There are twenty-six grandchildren , and fifteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Cahoon was active in work in the L. D. S. church, and was a member of the Seventies. Some years ago he filled a mission In the eastern states. i Funeral services, under the direction direc-tion of L. N. Nickle, will be held in Deseret on Friday, at 2 p. m. Burial will be in the Delta cemetery. |
