GrernhalKh "Common Ancestor" Having shown In prmevlous ar ticles that the government is keep ing record of its citizens, and much more could be shown by other gov ernment records, for there are many different branches or records but let us pass on to the many Individuals wro are of common ancestry who are ef'ected by such records. To Illustrate, let us take Decon Samuel Wright of North Hampton. Mass. This man and his Rood wife had a large family. They are the ancestors of a very large group of people here In America. Their des cendants number many thousands, and to make this common relation ship more interesting let us step back one generation to his wife's line to see how this relationship has effected American life. Let us note first that President Grover Cleveland. (who attainet to the highest of'lce in the United States) comes from this line. Let us look at him as a statesman and a ruler, Next let us consider one of ouf foremost literary men, one whose works In life shall live in the hearts of the people for generations to come, Oliver Wendell Holmes, who was of this same ancestry. One of the bravest of battle heros one who distinguished homself at the battle of Ticondoroga. Ethan Allen, Is another o? tliis family line. In the general authorities of the L. D. S. Church, there is one of this same blood strain. We have only mentioned the statesman, the writer, the soldier, and the clergyman, but there are those of all stations of life that are of this common ancestry. There are readers of this paper that are are of the same surname as are found on the pedigree to which we have referred and they have one pedigree that dates back to the year 1385. They have many printed family records and also printed pedigrees, some of which may be of worth to those readers whose surnames appear in these family records and pedigrees. It is indeed interesting to see how people, through research, soon find that many of thehj kindred are mentioned in the histories of nations. They have read these histories but were not as much interested before they found out. through research, that these statesmen and heros, are of the same common ancestry as they themselves are. It is reported that the great David Starr Jordan has said that none of us were more distantly related to each other than thirty-thir- d cousins. Some genealogists contend that Jordan was wrong by one about half and that sixteenth to eighteenth cousins are our most distant kinsmen. Be that as it may, it is a fact that many here are of the sam CCC Camp Nine young men of Juab County left Wednesday for the C. C. C. camp at Orderville, Utah, as this county's allotment.
