Show WHAT IS ITT A New Mineral Discovered In I'tah. The wonderful variety of mineral pro-duction discovered iu Utah is surprising. Every known mineral, and it must be confessed, that some unknown, hitherto unlearned, but practical prospectors and explorers come to the surface now and then. An experienced hunter and rancher today described to a Times representa-tive a beautiful woll watered and fertile vallev which ho ia his wanderings had found. He stated that in the foothills surrounding it he came across a ledye of mineral, white as snow, which, pulverized was free from grit and smell as wheat flour. It could bo cut easily witn a knife when first taken from the ledge, but grew harder on exposure to the air. He carved from it a pipe, filled it with tobacco and commenced to smoke it, when, to hie surprise the pipe itself took tiro-- and with a d blaze, with no perceptible smell, con-sumed the combustible substance which seemed to permeate the entire material, leaving the walls of his improvised pipe intact. Will some of our loarncd mineral sharps tell the readers of The Times what the combustible pipe was com-posed of and whether the material was likely to be of commercial value? Ala-baster, says one, but is ulabaster com-bustible? If so, the article in question is easily accounted for, as that mineral, more or loss colored, is found in abund-ance in southern Utah. 1 If You Are Furnishing a House; Fitting Ud a Room. 1 i i in fact if vou ro kccpinB 1 at a,!.
