Show BlnDIi Ibrieffs Teachers elect new officers The Park City Education Association elected new officers Tuesday. Treasure Mountain Middle School teachers Sharon Richards and Sue Worley will be replacing outgoing president Don Johnson. Elementary school teacher Tom Tanzer and high school teachers Bill Kahn and Craig Watson will be sharing the vice presidential responsibilities. The secretarial position will be filled by middle school teacher Judy McClellan and counselor Judy Holt. Bud Crowther, who teaches physical education and industrial arts at the middle school, was elected treasurer. "This year it will take two of us to do what Don Johnson did single handedly," said Worley. "Our goal is to maintain open communication with the board and the community," Richards added. School District to issue tax anticipation notes The Park City School District is currently accepting bids for $2 million in tax anticipation notes. The notes will be repaid when the district receives its tax revenues from the county in December. Last year the district issued $1.5 million in tax anticipation notes. Day care co-op approved for School District employees Middle School counselor Judy Holt received a go ahead from the Park City Board of Education to begin planning a day care cooperative at the Treasure Mountain Middle School next year. The board approved the plan as long as the service is available only to the children of School District employees and does not incur any additional expense to the School District. The cooperative will be operated in an unused classroom at the school. Middle school landscaping bid awarded The Board of Education has awarded a landscaping contract to Wasatch Mountain Shadows. The $76,913 bid includes landscaping around the perimeter of the Treasure Mountain Middle School building, excluding any area which was damaged due to the removal of the fascia around the building. That ground will be re-landscaped with insurance funds which cover the snow damage incurred last winter. The bid does not include playing fields. Career ladder plan adopted A career ladder plan was adopted by the Board of Education Tuesday night and has been sent to the State office of Education for approval. If accepted, the Park City School District will receive $50,000 to implement the program. According to the draft presented Tuesday night, $23,000 of the carreer ladder money will be used to fund three additional days for all teachers. $22,000 will be used to fund the career ladder advancements and the remaining $1,500 would be used for special projects. School budget hearing setforune12 A public hearing to review the proposed school budget for 1984-85 will be held on June 12. The budget documents will be available at the school district office beginning June 1. |
