Show Gleaning Extraordinary. It is the custom here for gleaners to go over tho ground whoro cereals have been grown when tho crops are gathered, ga-thered, but we heard yesterday of cases of gleaning extraordinary, in tho fields south of this city, where the gatherers dido't wait for the crops to be hauled away. Getting in among tho grain, the parties not merely picked up the looso heads, but actually cut tho wheat from the straw of several shocks, and when discovered at it ran, leaving a couple of sacks thus filled with grain. Such parties could get through the world with a much larger cargo of honesty hon-esty than they seem to carry; and it wouldn't hurt them much to give them a turn before the nearest justice of the peaco. |
