Show local pioneer flys to nauvoo mrs hilda erickson of grants ville was among the pioneers who flew to nauvoo as part of the cen tennial celebration mrs erickson came to utah at the age of six as you will remember from her life history which the chronicle printed recently she Is still quite spry and refuses help in aliling from cars and other con vey ances she rode in the parade on june 27 and also on june 28 mrs myri myrl porter president of the county camp of utah daughters of pioneers was asked to contact mrs erickson and see it if she would like to fly to nauvoo mrs erickson quite liked the idea so word was sent to the central camp in salt lake city it was two or three weeks after mrs porter first con tacked mrs erickson that the final plans were made and mrs erick son was informed that she would be amerig the number to go to nauvoo at noon on monday mrs erick son and the other pioneers went to the salt lake airport and board ed the united air lines mainliner Ma 0 connor they flew to burling ton iowa that same day on tuesday they visited the city of nauvoo illinois and were met by mayor lowell horton they were entertained at a chuck wagon lun cheon while in nauvoo on wednesday they boarded the plane to follow the same route that so many of them had walked over many long years before this time instead of months the trip took only 6 hours because it was made by plane bost of these pioneers flew for the he first time when they took this trip ap to nauvoo the other pioneers besides mrs erickson are mrs an me batt bird caffall john ekstran john tomas williams mrs eliza beth fullmer all of salt lake and beth ames christian jensen of spanish boac ork I 1 |
