Show - Taxpayer Bob Thompson attended a Kane County Commission meeting to express a concern he had about the Water Conservancy District. He came away feeling the Commission had been abrupt with him, treated him rudely, and that they hadn't taken his concerns seriously. SUN reporter Carol Sullivan's report of the meeting similarly reflected Thompson's account of what happened. Commissioner Mark Habbeshaw took issue with Thompson's account of the events, as well as Sullivan's reporting of it officials have a Fortunately, since our newly-electe- d their for actions have been misreprepenchance believing sented by the paper, we began taping all meetings several weeks ago. We stand by the SUN's account of the meeting. With that said, I would like to discuss perspective. Ms. Sullivan and Mr. Thompson viewed the events which occurred in one way, the Commission, at least Mr. Habbeshaw, viewed them another. Who's right and who's wrong? Elected officials know their intentions, but we can only report on their actions. One public servant recently told me, "you didn't report what I meant to say." He's right, we can only report on what he said. actually Most of us do have different perspectives on how events occur, how tax money should be spent, and whether the job our elected officials are doing represents the best interests of the county. As for being on the agenda or taking up too much of the Commission's time, my thoughts drift back to meetings of the past. There were marathon discussions on roads and how the County should or shouldn't respond. The former Commission was extremely tolerant of unscheduled issues and unsolicited input from the audience. They felt it their responsibility to listen to their bosses' (the taxpayers) concerns. Let's be respectful (and grateful) for different perspectives. Most good solutions lie somewhere in the middle of all of our diverse views. Letters to the Editor What is your opinion? This newspaper welcomes opinions from its readers concerning any subject. Dennis, Dixie, Cody and Andy had arrived and along with my daughter, granddaughter, and were having casual conversation. Someone mentioned that it would be great if I could be at the game, and I replied, I sure would enjoy seeing our team. Dixie said, You can, arid then yelled, Come on in guys. Suddenly the room was filled with players, coaches, their bus driver and those connected with the team. Dear Editor: great-grandson- s, My delay in writing this letter is inexcusable, but I needed time to gather my thoughts and express my feelings about the atti- tude of the younger generation in our society today. Recently I was faced with a personal health problem that required radical surgery. My morale was low and although I had been moved to the Kolob Rehab Center in Cedar City and was having many visitors with kind and sympathetic words, there was something missing.
