Show SPRINGVILLE HERALD Thursday, November 6, 2008 MaMng good choices at Mapleton Art and Basket Auction V AA'-X.- 5K at Reagan Academy 1 Jasmyne Carson , REAGAN ACADEMY, 8TH GRADE ' Reagan Academy in Springville will hold its' Fourth Annual Art and Basket Auction Fund Raising Rais-ing Event on Friday; Nov. 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. Come and watch local artists work live and then bid on their creations during dur-ing the art auction, hosted by an auctioneer, with pieces sold to the highest bidder. Among the artists who will be in attendance for this exciting event are: Robert Barrett, Sean Diediker, Nathan Hale, Joyce Nolte, Todd Orchard, Or-chard, Guerin Raught, J. Kirk Richards, Will Terry ' and Jake Wyatt. Also, more then 100 baskets bas-kets donated by parents will be available for purchase pur-chase during a silent auction. auc-tion. These theme-filled baskets include family movies, scrapbooking and jewelry, to name just a few. Other events during the evening include student "Inspirations" showcase, student musical performances perfor-mances and children's activities. ac-tivities. There will also be a dinner available in the cafeteria for $5 per person from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The -night promises to be fun as well as serving a good cause; all proceeds from the event go directly to Reagan Academy. So come down, bring the family fam-ily and enjoy an evening out with something for everyone! At Mapleton School they appreciate students who make good choices. There were also games and a puppet show. The library will be offering a family night each month with a different theme. November's event will be held on Nov. 17th at 6:30 p.m. The theme this month is Food Fun. They will have crafts, games, stories and, of course, FOOD. The library is asking each family that attends to bring a canned food item to donate to the Utah Food Bank. Please sign up at the library so that they know how many people to plan on. Perhaps the acquisition of material things is less important than we might have thought previously. I have mentioned before that many patients tell me that the one thing that they would hope to avoid losing is their vision. Protecting one's vision is a three step process. First, avoid exposure to ultra-violet light from the sun. Wear a hat and wear sunglasses with 100 UV protection. Second, maintain good cardiovascular health. That which is healthy for the heart is healthy for the eyes since the eye hus such tiny delicate blood vessels. Control blood pressure and blood sugar with good diet and medication if necessary.
