Show Big Cleanup Day At High Lchool The severe storm which swept the city and valley and which resulted in the postponement of the general clean-up program for the city, had little effect on the program at the high school. Yesterday was a busy session with the faculty and all the students and as a result the grounds, both front and back, shine and show the result of the efforts put forth. It had been intended to cooperate wtih the city in the movement, but the girls of the domestic science department depart-ment had planned a little "extra" for the students and faculty in the form of a big luncheon. Supplies had been ordered, meats had been cooked, ice cream prepared and in fact everything every-thing was in readiness and it was deemed best rather than let the provisions pro-visions go untouched to stage the clean-up day in advance of the city. J This was done and proved highly satisfactory. . ! The entire faculty and all the students, stu-dents, boys and girls, spent all day Wednesday in cleaning the grounds. 'All. rubbish was raked and piled, and a goodly portion hauled away. Fertilizer Fer-tilizer and new soil was spread on the lawn in front of the school building build-ing and the entire plot seeded. The fences were repaired and straight-(ened straight-(ened and made attractive. In the rear of the building all debris was cleared and many oranamental trees planted. Excepting the disposition of a few loads of rubbish which will be disposed of shortly, the campaign at the high school was complete and the example set will be a good one to follow when the campaign opens in this city next week. j While the boys, instructors and gi' Is were doing the good work about the grounds, a few of the girls of the domestic science department were busily engaged in preparing an elaborate ela-borate luncheon. Large tables were set and the entire membership of the school joined in one big feast and it is declared by some of the students that this feature was one of the big o-ies of the clean-up day at the high ' school. i |
