This week the lesson on work and business was under leader-ship of Mrs. Alice Cunningham. Mrs: Paul S. Richards presented an Americanism week feature. f February Social A patriotic color scheme was followed in decorations at No. 1 Fire hall Monday evening at the annual February party of the two Bingham fire auxiliaries. Lacy snowflakes hung from the ceiling to give a seasonal atmos-phere. Mrs. Clinton Robison, Mrs. Cyral Robison and Mrs. Irvin Stillman were cohostesses. Con-tract bridge prizes went to Mrs. TeJ Robison, Mrs. William Cook and Mrs. E. J. Householder. Luncheon was served to 36. Mrs. James M. Sullenger, dau-ghter of Mayor and Mrs. Ed W. Johnson, arrived home Tuesday morning from Newport, Rhode Island. For the past seven months Mrs. Sullenger has been in Ports-mouth, N.H., and New York City with her husband, who is now on active duty in the submarine service. Christensen of Copperton, has been named fourth specialist in the quarter-master section of the Gowan field air base at Boise, Idaho. The promotion brought a wage in-crease. Policeman R. J. Contratto, dis-trict chairman of police defense work, gave instruction on gases, espionage, sabotage and related subjects Monday evening at Lark. Tonight, Friday, Mr. Con-tratto has scheduled a class at Copperfield. Keith Rasmussen, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Rasmussen and since last June in service at the 81st school squadron advanced army air corps at Stockton field, Calif., has received a sergeant's commission. Mr. Rasmussen at-tended school half of each day and also instructs a radio tech-nician class of 12 men. Joyce, were guests at dinner Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Sparkes in Salt Lake City. The occasion was Mrs. Sparkes' birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zaccaria returned home February 5 from a two-da- y visit in Helper with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zaccaria Sr. Second Lieutenant Reed Lyon, son of Bishop and Mrs. David C. Lyon, left yesterday for Fort Sill. Okla., for a course of special training. Lieutenant Lyon was granted a week's furlough fol-lowing completion of a course in field artillery at Camp Roberts, Calif. The lower Bingham Sewing club met last evening as guests of Mrs. Ed Beck. Joseph Granquist was taken to St. Mark's hospital Sunday for treatment of pneumonia. M. Jane West, nurse and health lecturer, will apeak at the sew-ing class at the Civic Center at 10 a.m. Monday, it is announced by Mrs. Vera Hillstrom, WPA sewing instructor. City Councilman Dale John-ston was in Salt Lake City Mon-day, Tuesday and Wednesday attending the annual highway engineering conference as a re-presentative of Bingham Canyon. Max Golish, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eli Golish. of Copperfield, came home last Friday to spend six days' leave. He left yesterday to return to his position as first class fireman with the coast guard at Alameda, Calif. Mr. Go-lish expects to receive rank of second class petty officer next month. Miss Helen Morris underwent an operation Friday at St. Mark's Bridge Club Mrs. Verl Peterson entertain-ed Wednesday evening at bridge and midnight luncheon for mem-bers of the Entre Nous club.
