Show ALFALFA LEAF WEEVIL AGAIN Wc haVc been requested by a number num-ber of our subscribers to furnish more information regarding the alfalfa alfal-fa leaf weevil, so prevalent in the Salt Lake valley. A number of subscribers sub-scribers of the Dcscrct Farmer, both in Utah and Davis counties, have expressed ex-pressed alarmi at the rapid spread of this insect in Salt Lake county, fearing that its ravages may extend into their localities during the coming . season. There is a very great danger of this, and wc beg to say in this connection that the danger from this insect cannot be overestimated; when wc consider that an entire fie'd is completely devastated, the leaf being be-ing entirely eaten, leaving but the stalk standing, it is readily seen how serious the insect may become. On I account of the many requests that have .come, for more information, we have decided to publish in this issue of the Former, a circular recently issued is-sued by Prof. E. G. Titus of the Utah Agricultural College, which has re cently been sent to every farmer in I , the Salt Lake valley, whose address could be obtained. |
