Show The Descrct Farmer takes pleasure in recommending to the farmers of the State, Prof. Charles F. Brown, who proposes hereafter to devote his lime to private work in the interest of farmers who may need his services in the State of Utah. Some six years ago Prof. Brown gradated with degree in the department of Civil Engineering, served one year as an instructor in-structor in that school in Civil Engineering, En-gineering, but resigned to engage as liar with its alkali and water-logged lands'. He conducted a number of experiments in Washington, Emry, and Box Elder counties, and gain a a good working knowledge a.' to th most efficient methods to be employed employ-ed in reclaiming these seemingly worthless lands. Prof. Brown was in actual charge of the work, and in this capacity met the difficulties and obstachs that hid to be overcome. He was1 entirely PROF. C. F. BROWN Assistant Engineer for the Utah Sugar Sug-ar company on the Bear River Canal system. Early in "the spring of 1905, Prof. Brown received an appointment appoint-ment as Drainage engineer for the Drainage Investigations of the Office of Experiment Stations, U. S. Ds-partment Ds-partment of Agriculture, and was .. placed in immediate charge of ajthe drainage investigations j&r Utah.' While in this capacity he travelled over the state anbecamc very fn'mi- successful in this work; in fact his work was considered so successful by the Department that early in 1908 hi was placed in charge oj-all of fhc- work in Utah, Western Colorado, and WyomingrDuring 1908 also, Mr. Brown's work attracted such attention at-tention that ho was elected an associate associ-ate member of the American Societv of Civil Engineers. Tn March of the present year his field of usefulness was enlarged,' as he was given super vision of all of the drainage work in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and Texas. Tex-as. However, Mr. Brown felt that under the conditions obtaining in the Government service, he could do better bet-ter service to his State by engaging in private practice. In consequence of this he resigned his position on July 1st, and has opened an office at 317 Boston Bldg., Salt Lake City, where he proposes to engage in priv ate enterprises. Mr. Brown is entirely competent in Civil Engineering, in canal .construction, .construc-tion, drainage problems, and any .work of this character. He is thorough, thor-ough, conscientious, and reliable, and we feel sure that no disappointments will be had in engaging his services when needed. o |
