The program is now set for this year’s Ogden Valley Balloon Festival, with activities taking place in both Eden and Huntsville. he complete program has been inserted into this edition of the Ogden Valley News, but here’s a quick overview: The Festival takes place the weekend of August 17 - 19, 2007. • Wolf Creek Resort’s Festival Field will host the balloon launches and pancake breakfasts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday starting at 7:00 a.m. Please arrive by 6:30 a.m. • An evening concert will be held on Friday featuring The Kapp Brothers, and Shades of Grey on Saturday evening. The concerts, which begin at 6:00 p.m., are free, and there is plenty of on site parking. • The Ogden Rescue Mission will be cooking up a delectable treat, including grilled foods and beverages for a minimum charge; or, patrons are welcome to pack a picnic at no charge. But please, no bottles! • Huntsville Town Park is the location for all the Fine Arts and Crafts booths, Plein Air Competition, Antique Car Exhibits, and Kids Inflatable attractions with food booths and an incredible line-up of continuous live musical talent. • The activities in the Huntsville Town Park will be held Friday, noon to 6:00 p.m.; and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the award ceremony for the Plein Air competition at 6:00 p.m. There are NO activities in Huntsville Park on Sunday. Musical Artists Gary Kelso from the band Shades of Grey has lined up our musical enter- tainment this year. He has compiled an amazing list of talented and diversified musicians to perform during the Balloon Festival. You will want to consider taking your folding chairs and spending lot’s of time at Huntsville City Park listening to live musicians and groups perform during the day. I can promise you that you and your friends will really enjoy this array of local talent. Don’t miss it! For the second year, there will be—what is known in the art world—a “Plein Air” competition where artists compete for over $3,500 in prize money for their original artwork that they will create during the day on Saturday. At 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, judging of the art will occur and cash awards made to the winners. Best of all, the paintings will be available to the public for sales; what a great opportunity! Volunteers This annual event does not take place without the generous financial support of sponsors and the willingness of volunteers to assist with the many aspects of this community event. We need volunteers in the following areas: Balloon crew support, soft drink booths, entertainment support (entertainers and crew), first aid/information booth, parking control, parking lot layout and marking, cleanup and volunteer check-in. Shannon Krueger is responsible for coordinating all volunteers. Let her know if you are willing to help by going to our website <www. ogdenvalleyballoonfestival.com> Click on “Volunteers” and express your interest. You will then be contacted and given an assignment. It takes approximately 40 community volunteers for the success of the Balloon Fest. It’s obvious we can only pull off this event with your support. Thanks in advance for your willingness to help!
