Oil Is advancing all the time, ana one in a position to know declares that the demand this year is going to be 15.000,000 barrels in excess of the supply, unless some extensive new fields are discovered and developed. An air compressor is now busy at the Hub mine, near Milford, while development work is being vigorously prosecuted. There is now over eighty tons of ore on the dump at the Hub which Is valued at between $100 and $300 per ton. The activity for the current season with the Lost Packer Mining company of Idaho has already commenced. During the season of 1907 the Lost Packer company cleared a total of $100,000 from not over a thirty days run of Its new smelter. Since the unwatering of the Ontario drain tunnel there has been an unusual demand for the stock of that celebrated Park City property, but it seems that there is little stock to he found in the open market, the holders evidently looking for better results In the way of production than In the past. Work is progressing rapidly In cleaning out the caved portion of the drift between Nos. 2 and 3 shafts on t level of the Ontario at the Park City, and It will be only a short time until the draining of the mine Is complete and work resumed In the ground that has been flooded for so HOG SORTING CHUTES. ; of Promotes Dit'eslionOmfuI ness and Rcst.Contalns neilher Opium.Morph.ine nor Mineral. long. Several years ago I built on my farm a wooden tank 25 feet long, 20 inches wide at the top, four feet deep, and six inches wide at the bottom. I made It out of plank, tongued and grooved and painted well. It gave me good satisfaction, but the trouble with the wooden vat Is that It soon rots where the ground touches It Since I have been using my steel vat I would not think of making another wooden one, as the steel vat Is much more durable, and therefore causes much less trouble. I have used many kinds of standard dips, and the results have been very satisfactory where the Instructions were carefully carried out.Three weeks old is rather young for lambs to be dipped; says a writer In Farmers Voice, but I do not hesitate about dipping mine when they are five or six weeks old. Almost six or seven weeks ago I became paralyzed all at once with rheumatism," writes Mrs. Louis 913 Seventh street, Oakland, Cal. "It struck me In the back and extended from the hip of my right leg down to my foot. The attack was so severe that I could not move In bed and was afraid that I should be a cripple for life. About 12 years ago I received a sample bottle of your Liniment but never had occasion to use it, as I have always been well, but something told me that Sloans Liniment would help me, so I tried it. After the second application I could get up out of bed, and In three days could walk, and now feel well and entirely free from qain. My friends were very much surprised at my rapid recovery and 1 was only too glad to tell them that Sloans Liniment was the only medicine 1 used. The practice of running hogs after cattle to live off the droppings Is a practice that It would be well to abandon. It Is a filthy practice, as all What is worse, Is that must admit. It spreads tuberculosis, and perhaps other diseases to the swine, which In turn are eaten by human beings. There can be no disputing the fact that many cattle are. affected with tuberculosis. Moreover, It has been recently ghown by the government Investigators that the droppings of cattle are the most common means of So long as spreading the disease. catthis pasturing hogs wih corn-fetle Is carried on, so long will the disease continue to fix itself in the swine, which in turn come on to the tables of the people. d Hogs Rooting in Barnyards. Some hog raisers advise to let the hogs have the run of the barnyard and root over the manure. They say that the exercise Is good and that it improves the manure. In addition the hogs get much food out of the manure. But this is not a practice that The manure is should be encouraged. not the proper kind of medium to carry the food of any animal. Fluerine Is a new section, about fourteen miles from Rhyolite, on the cast side of the Bare mountain range, end almost directly south of Beatty This particular section has been known as a mineralized country foi about three years, but it Is only recently that there has been any excitement over the discovery. E. Chopin Gard, a mining promote: with offices In Denver, has been Indicted by the federal grand Jury on the charge of using the malls in furtherance of schemes to defraud. Ha Is alleged to have sent out alluring literature about properties in southern Utah, which government inspectors claim did not justify his advertising claims. The average width of the vein Is said to be twenty-fivfeet of ore of shipping grade, several cars of which are to be forwarded to the valley smelters during the present week. The Nevada Douglas, at Yerington, has, by encountering the same body of rich sulphides on the 650-folevel, added another hundred feet of backs to the generous available resources developed, and the owners are feeling very good over the present appearance of the property. On the Bull Run property, in the newly discovered Bull valley district of Utah, all of the ore being sacked Is. high grade, running from $3,000 to $30,000 In gold to the ton. There does not seem to be any low grade discoveries in the district, ail of the rock found being phenomenally rich. The Daly Judge Mining company, of Park City, has, according to the report submitted to the stockholders meeting held recently, distributed $224,850 in dividends during the past year.
