Show Two-Week Celebration Fourteen days are needed in Japan Ja-pan to celebrate the coming of the new year. During the festival streets are made lively by stilt-walking, stilt-walking, top-spinning, jumping, ball-playing ball-playing and rope-pulling. While the youths are enjoying the outdoor sports, the older people write New Year's poems or play games. After two weeks' of revelry the festival is brought to a close by burning the kado-matsu and other oth-er decorations put up for the celebration. |
