Show September HILL TOP TIMES Page 4 Proclaimed Leaders Bowling Along By Hugh Stewart The creaking wheels of Hill AFB Men's bowling machine started to move slowly a couple of weeks ago at the Paramount, Bowl, but did not grind exceedingly fine. Low scores were the order of the day with some outstanding performances being recorded in that respect! Verne Gale of the Superforts, a better than good bowler, came up with perhaps the lowest score in the history of the league. He scored a single game of exactly forty nine points. (49). We invite the women's league to check their records for comparison! Major John Swol of the Scorpions in .the bowling of 15 September rang up an even century score while boasting a class "A" bowling rating. (Incidentally the Major picks up a. little extra pocket money setting pins at the Ogden Bowling Center during the summer league). All of which causes one to wonder if the Bard of Stratford-On-Avo- n were not right when he wrote: "For the sweetest things turned sourest by their deeds; lilies that fester smell far worse than " weeds." However Charlie Burton of the Superforts put a "stopper" to this trend when he chalked up a tremendous 638 series, featuring single games of 225 and 246.
