Show SENIOR CITIZENS A great store of pleasure is being made ready for Senior Citizens of the Payson area, who are invited to participate in any or all as listed here below. Friday, Nov. 20: travelogue, refreshments and bingo party.. This will be a Thanksgiving Special. Those who attend are asked to bring a white elephant gift. Time, 2 p.m. at the Tabernacle. Monday, Nov. 23: Motion picture at Huish Theater, through courtesy ofS.M. The film will be McFadden, manager. the beautiful colored musical, On A Clear Day staring Barbara Streisand. It is THE given any film. Time, 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27: Senior Citizens will sponsor busses to the Ice Capades to be presented at the Ice Palace in Salt Lake City. Dec. 4: Holiday banquet to be served in 465-28- 465-35- 52 Danny Lane Danny Dean Lane, 31, Las Vegas, Nev., former resident of Spanish Fork, died November 8, 1970 in Las Vegas of accidental asphyxiation. He was born April 20, 1939, in Gentry, Mo., a son of Charlie and Grace Smith Lane. He married Ruth Guymon and they were later divorced. Mr. Lane received his education in Missouri schools. IMPROVEMENTS CONTINUE In the program of continueing improvements made to the Tabernacle the following is reported: A small room has been built on the north-eacorner of the Tabernacle and will be used to house some large lapidary (rock and gem polishing) machinery given to the Citizens by Payson City. Workers on this project were Edmund Jensen, Jesse Finlayson, Amley Pulver, Fred Mardue, Elmer Jones, Lyndon Crook, Willis 465-296- st Provstgaard, Perry Jackson, Joseph Bing- ham, Sam Mayers, Cecil Blunt, Hershel Coles, Albert Ashby and Vernal Twede Four large arborvitae shrubs have been donated by Ronald Mayer and are now planted in front of the Tabernacle. These plants will add to the beauty of the building and further the project of landscaping. MMwmdl NOTICE OF INTENTION PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 9th day of November, 1970, the Mayor and City Council of Payson City, Utah County, State of Utah, passed and adopted a resolution declaring the intention of creating in said City a Special Improvement District, No. 1970-- 1 of Payson City, Utah County Utah. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the City Council of Payson City, Utah, of its intention to make the hereinafter described improvements within the said Special Improvement and of the future intention of said Council to levy assessments as provided by laws of Utah on the property lying within said District benefited by the making of such im- provements. The improvements are to consist of 6100 sq. feet of concrete paving; 1800 sq. feet of brick paving; 150 feet of brick bench; 12 wooden benches; 43 concrete benches; 7 refuse can holders; 11 street lights; 8 water devices with ponds, small dams, water wheel and interesting action by water; various instruction and direction signs; 107 car stalls; 3100 sq. feet of painted pedestrian cross walk; 1 KIOSK structure which has benches, drinking fountain, phone booth, placque and public bulletin board; landscaping with top soil and earth mounds and turf in certain areas, containing 94 trees, 350 shrubs and 755 units of ground cover; miscellaneous stones which will be placed at areas to create aesthetic values, as well as in the pools 5f water; sprinkling system with main and lateral lines, control valves and sprinklers; and 2200 feet of gutter covering patch and repair present curb, construct new curb, remove existing curb and sidewalks and do all other miscellaneous work necessary to complete the improvements in a proper workmanlike manner. The herein described improvements shall be called SPECIAL IMPROVEMENTDIS-TRIC- T the boundaries of the proposed district within Payson City Utah, are as follows: 1. ESTIMATED COST The total estimated cost of all improvements is $110,777. 16 dollars of which the Citys portion is $22,482.29 dollars and the remainder in the amount of $88,294.87 is to be paid by assessments to be levied on all blocks, lots, parts of blocks and lots, tracts or parcels of property bounding, abutting upon, or adjacent to the improvements ' or which may be affected or specially benefited by the improvements to the extent of the benefits to such property by reason of the improvements. Assessments shall be made according to the frontage of the property on the streets or aUeys to be improved. The estimated cost of the improvements of the property to be assessed is as follows: $40.00 dollars per front foot. The estimated cost per front foot stated above does not include the following alley ways: 1. The 15 ft. right of way between Spencer Furniture and Merlin Phillips cafe, which is a public right of way. 2. The alley right of way between Publishing and Wilsons style properties on Utah Avenue South side and 12 ft. wide in name of Payson City. 3. Right of Way between Chase Lumber and Roys Laundromat being 20 ft. wide in name of Payson City. There shall be an allowance for corner lots to be apportioned as defined and provided for by the laws of the State ofUtah. PaysonCity having set a 67 ft. allowance on the properties running East and West on Utah Avenue, but fronting on Main Street. The assessments may be paid by the property owners in ten (10) installments with interest on the unpaid balance at a rate or rates not to exceed seven (7) per cent per annum fixed by the City Council, or one or more installments or the whole assessment may be paid without interest within fifteen (15) days after the ordinance levying the assessment becomes effective. A Map of the proposed District is on file in the Office of the City Recorder, and all persons interested are hereby referred to the same for further information in regard to said improvements and said Special Improvement District. No one has yet really heard him complain. Fred doesnt look old, but his nine years at Utah Technical College were only the final chapter in a long and useful life as a machinist. He learned the trade at Magna for the old Utah Copper, working there seven years. He went to work as a machinist for the Union Pacific Railroad, where he served 39 years, Retiring from the railroad, he came to Utah Tech where he has since been. One gets the idea he may see a lot of ball games during his retirement. An avid sports fan, he played third base for eight years in the 1920 s for the old Provo Timps. At Jordan High School he played basketball and football when we didnt even have helmets. PASSED by the City Council of Payson City, Utah, this 9th John Earl Ludlow, 72, Benjamin died Wednesday, November 11, 1970, in the Pay-so- n City Hospital of Cancer. He was born January 23, 1898, in Benjamin, a son of Thomas E. and Anna Ockerman Ludlow. He married Maude Houghton on March 16, 1920, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Aug. 6, 1968. Mr. Ludlow received his education in the Benjamin andSpan-is- h Fork schools and was a farmer and sheepman all his life in Benjaimin. An active member of the LDS Church, Mr. Ludlow was counselor in the Benjamin Ward Bishopric under two Bishops. He also served a mission and served on the Old Folks Committee for a number of years. He served as secretary of the Benjamin District Cemetery Board, was president of the Utah County Wool Growers Association, a member of the Utah State Wool Growers Assiciation and member of the Cattlemens Association.
