Show 6 THE PAYSON Thursday, November CHRONICLE Wedding vows 19, 1970 Brenda Burraston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Burraston recited vows with Gordon Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Davis, both of Goshen, in a ceremony performed Saturday, November 14 at the home of the brides parents. Bishop Joel V. White officiated, A reception honoring the couple was given later that evening at the Goshen Ward Cultural Hall, where the young couple, welcomed guests. For the wedding the bride chose an elegant white satin and lace full length dress, her shoulder length veil was caught into a delicate flower cluster of lace and seeded pearls. She carried a bouquet of red roses and carnations. Hally Ann Jones was maid of honor. Other attendants were Connie Erickson, Sherry Jolley, Debby Wolf, Susan Miller, and little Sandra Long acted as flower Marriage told Mr, and Mrs, George E, Jones of Pay-so- n announce of their son Theron E, Jones of Jayson and Beverly J. Luncheon was served buffet style after-whiVerna Cloward of Provo entertained with accordion selections. Later the bride-ele- ct opened her many lovely gifts, expressing a lavish wish for each guest, who also presented her with favorite recipes. Pictures were taken. Seated in places of honor were their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Finch, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Burraston, and Mrs. Eudora Davis. The young couple are both graduates of Payson High School. The bride completed one year at LDS Business College and Utah Tech. The groom just returned home from a tour of duty with the Marine Corps, at Viet Nam. Sharon Moore Engagement Geneil Gardner Announcement made of wedding plans Mr. and Mrs. G. Grant Gardner of Pay-so- n, announce the engagement of their daughter, Geneil, to James D. Ballentine of Provo. The couple plan a December 11 wedding in the Salt Lake Temple. She is attending the BYU and will receive her degree in the school of Social Work at the end of January. James is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald L. Ballentine of Manila, Philippines. He graduated from Blackford High School at San Jose, California. He graduated from the BYU in the school of Economics this August. He has served a two year mission in West Germany. He has enlisted in the army and will be leaving for his training the first of January. The young couple expect to go to Germany for a two year duty in the army. CINNAMON APPLES 6 baking apples (or amount needed fc your family) 1 cup sugar 3 tablespoons red cinnamon candies 1 12 cups water red food coloring Core apples and pare down about tw inches. Place in baking dish with enoug water to cover bottom of dish. Bake : 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Combin sugar, cinnamon candies and water. Bo: 5 minutes until sugar and candies ar dissolved. Pour syrup over apples an continue baking until apples are tender about 15 to 20 minutes longer. Bast frequently with cinnamon syrup. Top wit whipped cream if desired. NOTES- - CAMP SEAGULL Camp Seagull, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, met Thursday afternoon at the home of Alta Cowan for their November meeting. Susan Ashby, captain, was in charge. The prayer was given by Marie Men- denhall. Jeanne Lundholm gave the lesson on Mining and Ghost Towns of the area. Leila Gray gave a history of Mathew Caldwell, who built the first home in American Fork in 1850 and later became mayor of Spanish Fork. She said their daughter, Amanda Caldwell (Wilson) lived on the site where she (Mrs. Gray) now makes her home in the Eckersley Apartments. A song, Echo Canyon, was presented by Gloria Barnett and Erma Measom with organ accompaniment by Arlene Provst-gaar- d. Mrs. Cowan also favored with an organ solo. A report on the country meeting was given by Iris Amos and Grace Goble. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Cowan, Mrs. Gray and Cora Page. Eighty three family members were in attendance. The Thompsons were married Nov. 15, 1920 in Provo, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. - News 4-- H - THE BLUE JAY CLUB The Blue Jay H Club met at the home of their leader, Lola Jacobson. Meeting was called to order by Mary Joe Roberts, Prayer by Shelly Ryan. Darla Sawyer led the Pledge of Allegiance and the H Pledge. Reporter - Joy Beck BUSY BEES CLUB The Busy Bees H Club meeting was held Nov. 13, 1970 at the home of their leader, Nancy Bradford. The meeting was called to order by Denise Miller. The opening prayer was by Susan Christenson. The Pledge of Allegiance by Dana Herbert and the H pledge by Christie Palmer. The minutes were read and approved. We discussed about what we wanted to make and the materials we could sew on. We also discussed when we could have our 4-- 4-- meetings. Susan Christensen served refreshments to 8 members and the leader. The closing prayer was given by Sarah Cook, Sarah Cook, Reporter Leo was born at Pleasant Grove, Utah April 11, 1897, a son of Thomas P. and Zina Thomsen Thompson. He was raised in Provo, Utah. Bernice Thompson was born in Heber, Utah Aug. 24, 1902, a daughter of Archie and Eliza Murdock Sellers. They moved to Provo in 1919. The Thompsons moved to West Mountain in Jan. 1936 where they farmed. Later Mr. Thompson worked at the mines in Eureka, Utah. They are the parents of eleven children, six boys and five girls. There are nine living, Mrs. John D. (Dorothy) Makin, Lehi, Utah; LeoS. Thompson, Los Angeles, Calif,; Mrs. Paul D. (Jessie) Christen, Orem, Utah; James C. Thompson, Kellogg, Idaho; Jarvie Thompson, Pleasant Grove, Utah; Mrs. Glen (Weltha) Johnson, New Plymouth, Idaho; Archie Thompson, Lawrence Thompson and Donna Greenhalgh, all of Payson, Utah. They have 45 grandchildren and 24 and a number of The Thompsons are active members of the LDS Church. Mr. Thompson is a World War I veteran. They are always quick and happy to help relatives, neighbors and friends in time of need and offer a smile to all they meet. en THE SKYLARK CLUB The Skylark H Club held their meeting on November 13, at the home of their leader, Madge Thompson. The meeting was caUed to order by President Donna Cook. Prayer by Ray Ann Okelberry, H pledge by Patricia Cook and pledge of allegiance by Kristen Fitzjerald. There were 4 members present. APPLE DUMPLINGS' 1 recipe pie crust, enough for 2 crust pie 5 apples, pared and cored 12 cup sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 tablespoon butter Divide pastry in half, roll each about 316 inch thick, and cut out 5 seven inch squares. Place an apple in center of each square. Mix sugar and cinnamon and fill centers of apples. Dot apples with butter. Moisten edges of pastry squares with water, then bring points up over apples, putting in hole in center. Seal seam edges Put by pressing together with fingers. in 12 x 8 inch baking dish. For a pretty glaze, brush dumplings with a slightly beaten egg white and sprinkle with sugar. Pour around the dumplings a sauce made by bringing to a boil: 1 cup hot water, 14 cup sugar, 2 tbs. butter, 12 tsp. cinnamon and 2 tbs. lemon juice. Bake in very hot oven (500) for 10 minutes, then reduce heat to moderate (350) and bake for min0 utes longer. Serve warm with cream or ice cream. Makes 5 servings. 30-4- Steelworkers On November 24th at the Union Hall in oclock the Retired Steelworkers are having a turkey dinner with all its trimmings.
