Show No NSL garbage fee hike NORTH SALT LAKE The city council has decided to "wait and see" before increasing garbage fees. Mayor Jake Simmons told the council that at this time, there is no way of knowing just what the costs of hauling trash will be in the near future. Much of the confusion is due to the fact that no decisions have been made regarding the future of the burn plant in Layton. Mayor Simmons Sim-mons said details are still being discussed dis-cussed and insurance costs are being re-evaluated at this time. He stated that presently the cost of liability lia-bility insurance is equal to $10 per ton. Lowering insurance costs could have a significant effect on the tipping fees at the plant. . The city had considered increasing increas-ing the garbage fees at this time, but Councilwoman Shanna Schafemeyer suggested, "If we're going to increase costs we'd better be able to justify it." It was agreed that no increase would be made until un-til further information is available on the actual costs involved. The matter will be reviewed in about six months. ; j |
