www Elaborate Park System Is Suggested For Salt Lake LakeI Salt Lake is ever er to have ha a modern and comprehensive comprehensive com corn I IF park s system and the desirability oi of it is so eo o obvious as ns to render ar argument unnecessary now flow is 13 the time to plan This is a growing eit city practically a n cit city in the making the development period is the auspicious time to arrange for parks and boulevards and this city is now in that stage of its civic chie life Salt Lake is destined to be a great metropolis and can make its arrangements now flow to avoid the difficulties which beset other great cities that did not use the forethought which the Salt Lake park board is now exhibiting V We e ma may regret the mistakes of others but there is no reason why we should not profit by them Many any other cities busily engaged in development development development develop develop- ment thought nothing of the finer side of city life until the prices of property had enhanced to where it was almost impossible to secure ground in advantageous places for breathing spots When the necessities of parks became so plain that the matter could coul d be i ignored nored no longer the money that left the pockets of the taxpayers to repair the omIssion omission omission omis omIs- sion amounted to huge sums That is an experience ence once which the people of Salt Lake should not undergo A few years years ago land could have ha been purchased for parks and boulevards boule much more cheaply than now The city already owns property that can be bo used for parks but there is much more that will have t to be he purchased if the system of boulevards is to be instituted Land is cheaper now than it I will be in a few years if the people do not caro care I Int at nt this time to go to the million and a half of expense ex ex- pense that it is estimated the proposed improvements improve improve- merits ments will Win cost such land as fiS is needed should bo be secured anyway It will win prove pro an excellent in in- in vestment
