Show . There is great activity at the Patent office on the part of the companies which are antagonistic to the JBell Company to secure a report from the Commissioner of Patents to the Attorney-General, which will warrant the latter in -authorizing the use of the name of the United States in the suit for the cancellation of the Bell patent. Three such applications are pending before the Commissioner, one by the Pan-Electric Company, one by the Baltimore and Washington Telephone Company, and the third, which has just been filed, by the (jrlobe lelephone Company. Com-pany. . The Commissioner is in a very embarrassing position, and is undoubtedly undoubt-edly subjected - to a great deal of political pressure. It is reported in telephone tele-phone circles that Commissioner Montgomery Mont-gomery in his report as to these several applications will not undertake to go into the general question of the scientific char-, acter of the inventions, but will confine himself to the report of facts as he finds them in the records of the Patent office. |
