Show ' . Only a Small Biot To-Day. Montbeal," Sept. 30. Only two small disturbances dis-turbances occurred last night, one at the Gray Nunnery and the other later on at the Champ de Mars. The police had received information that a mob would assemble as-semble at the latter place, and a strong f oroe was , on hand. On becomingunruly the crowd was quickly dispersed. dis-persed. Everything was quiet this morning. The large force of militia called out has evidently ' had a good effect. No further fur-ther serious trouble is anticipated. The public feeling is completely aroused by the conduct : of the rioters, and theipolice are denounced on all sides for their seeming want of courage. The authorities are resolved re-solved to carry out the health laws vigorously, vigor-ously, and will take whatever steps are necessary for that purpose. |
