Show IX THE INTERESTS OF UTAH. I Coloneliriurphy, of the New Orleans' Exhibit, Visits Salt Lake on . exhibition Business. It is not generally known that upon the close of the World's Fair at New Orleans, a new organizatian was formed for the purpose of holding a second exposition ex-position in New Orleans, commencing November 10th of the present year. It is known as the North, Central and South American Exposition, and has for its object a display similar to that of the World's Fair. ; One of the directors of the new organization, organ-ization, Colonel Frank M. Murphy,-is registered at the Walker House. Ho brings with him a letter of introduction to Governor Murray from F. A. Tritle, Governor of Arizona. Colonel Murphy is here in the fnterests of Utah, and as a director of the New Exposition will visit the several Territories for the purpose of increasing the display of their products during the holding of this exhibit. . Col. Murphy having had considerable experience in work of this kind, no fitter man could have been selected for the work. In 1883, he was appointed to represent repre-sent Arizona at the Mining and Industrial Exposition which was held in Denver, Colorado. He was appointed by President Presi-dent Arthur to represent Arizona at the World's Exposition held ' at New Orleans. The manner in which he has performed the duties connected con-nected with his office on both the occasions occa-sions referred to resulted in directing attention at-tention to and causing large investments to be made in the Territory, and has won for him the greatest respect of the people he represented, and his high order of executive ex-ecutive ability attracted the attention of the authorities of the expositions referred to. . ' ; '. ' ' : There is no doubt but that every courtesy cour-tesy will be extended Colonel Murphy, and such assistance rendered him in his labors connected with Utah as will enable him to fully accomplish the object of his visit, to the end that the people of the United States, as well as many . people from abroad, may understand how great and varied are the resources of the hew and only partially-settled Territories of the United States. |
