Show A French Expert on the "Puritan." . The well-known. French journal, Le Yacht, has an article on the recent contest con-test for the America's cup. The editor of Le Yacht was one jof the first to advocate the use of centre-boards in France. Over and over, he expatiated in his columns upon the merits of the center-board when applied to small pleasure yachts. He explained in detail the various advantages advan-tages possessed by the American boats of this class, and he dilated upon their handiness in working, their great convenience con-venience in shallow waters, and their marked weatherly qualities in beating to windward. He now declares the victory of the Boston sloop oyer the English cutter has convinced him- that the . perfected type of a centre-board yacht, as exemplified exempli-fied in the "Puritan, is "the true model to follow," and he hails her ' success as the signal of a new departure among French yacht builders, who, he thinks, have been too much disposed to follow blindly the exaggerated proportions of English racers. . : |
