A reporter called at the Signal Office to learn the reason for the sudden suspension of the weather indications on the Pacifio Coast, and was informed in-formed that the suspension is temporary only. Lieutenant Glassf ord, of the signal corps, who has been on duty here for Some time, will be ordered to San Francisco to take charge of the Pacifio Coast division, and until he reaches his new post the indications indi-cations there have been suspended. ' Some time ago it was decided to make ; THE PACIFIC COAST A DIVISION BY ITSELF For weather indications, and Lieutenant Craig, who was stationed here, was placed in charge of the division with headquarters at San Francisco. Not a great while ago he was relieved from duty on the Signal Service at his own request, with a view of joining his regiment. His relief left the office at San Francisco in charge of a Signal Sergeant, Ser-geant, who continued the work. It was found, however, he was hardly up to the requirements re-quirements of such an important duty, and it was decided to suspend the Pacifio Coast indications 'until a more competent officer could take charge. . . - ; . |
