The overland railroad war growing out of the dissolution of the Transcontinental Association was instituted in-stituted to-day in a : thoroughly aggressive way, both as to passenger and freight traffic. All the lines" running west and southwest from this city having California connections were booking passengers to-day to San irr&ncioo t $70-for .first-class unlimited; $00 for first-class limited; $42 for second-class second-class and emigrant. Iu the .matter of contracting con-tracting for freights no rates are quoted, but the agents have been given carte blanche to secure business at any figures, and it is kuown that very large reductions are being oadev ' ".-a- X - .
