Show Tis Patent Office WASHINGTON Oct 2GI11 his annual report re-port to the Secretary of the Interior Commissioner Com-missioner of Patents M V Montgomery says that the current business of the Patent Olflce is in a much better and more prosperous pros-perous condition than when Secretary Lamar assumed charge of the Department At that time the business of the office was largely in arrears the average time that an applicant for a patent was required to wait after filing his application was five and a half months and m some of the divisions they were compelled to wait from twelve to thirteen months At this time the delays in such divisions are on an average about three and onpthird months in arrears The fees accruing in the Patent Offico and turned into the Treasury during the calendar year of 1885 were 163710 making a balance in the Treasury on account of Patent Office Fund of very nearly 3000 000 |
