Show Patience Slatinee The matinee performance of Patience this afternoon was exceptionally good While the choruses of the ladies or lovesick love-sick maidens rather are not strong yet they are sweet and there is a general smoothness rarely found among amateurs ama-teurs It is the same with the male choruses There has never been a Pate Pa-te e here that had so good a Bunthorne I as Mr Spencers and his idea of the poem Hollow was excellent while the manner in which he exclaimed hollow hollow hollow was the true one for the aesthetic school His singing is very good and his actions are graceful Mr Whites Archibald is not so good he imparting to the character too much of the buf foon style while it is anything but that Mr White is too selfconscious for the part Miss Thatchers Patience is very i i good but occasionally she strains her voice too much and has too much forte at times But her singing as a whole is very good better than her acting Of her voice she should be careful as it is a rare one and should be carefully trained Mr 111 Piper has a sweet voiceand sings very well Mrs Birdie Cummings and Miss Louise Walls sang well and received an encore for their duet The lhe dragoon drill was well done but needs a little more practice to perfect it I is a good thing of itself and does credit to the company The whole TV r fnrm n r no TT O a Olll n r does great credit to our n local singers v and auu I they deserve encouragement |
