Show POLICE POINTERS A Busy Day In Judge Pypers Court Today was another busy one in the I Police Court several offenders having been brought up to answer for their conduct con-duct I Thomas Leland a short fat boy and I George Atwood a tall lean man were arraigned on the charge of fighting and both entered pleas of not guilty According Accord-ing to Lelands story the affair was a boxing match and the two were just fooling Atwood however said that Leland had claimed that he Atwood owed him Leland a quarter and that I when the former refused to pay the laler decided to punch it out of him Leland then introduced a witness who said that he see the two with their arms around each other in a manner which from his description must have been very affectionate A new idea then struck Leland and he decided that they were just embracing each other He said lie didnt pretend that it was a wrestling match any more than a sparring spar-ring match but from all he said it was evident that he would cling to the theory that the affair was a hippodrome The Judge took a different view of it and as sessed T 1n the n amateur pugilists 750 each uuuii JJJM was uyj tlguill this time charged with being drunk and profane and resisting the officers He was as sessed 20 Edward Tolhurst and Charles Whit man two small boys were brought in charged with malicious mischief in the I form of breaking pieces from the fence surrounding the Jewish Synagogue Whitmans sentence was suspended on account of his extreme youth and the ther boy will be dealt with tomorrow Conrad Newham found guilty of be smearing the walls of a house he had rented was sentenced to pay a fine of 40 He gave notice of an appeal and at last accounts he was rustling around for bondsmen |
