Show A FRIGHTFUL ACCIDENT The Death of Foreman Striker Near Soda Springs EDITOR DEMOCRAT Yesterday morn ing as the section boss and his men were going east to work they met a freight train near a bend along Bear river The train came upon them so suddenly that they scarcely had time to get the handcar hand-car off the track The foreman a German seemed dazed so much so that he stood on the track looking at the handcar hand-car evidently forgetting himself and before the men could call to him to get out of the way the train struck him throwing him down the bank to the river and killing him instantly All speak of him as being a sober and industrious man and highly respected Ha had just takeu charge of the section secton although he has been working some time as a laborer for the railroad company He leaves u wife and two children t mourn his loss At present his wife is in a delicate state of health delct stt and fears are entertained for her recovery No blame can be attached to any of the train men All would have been well if wel i he had not lost his presence of mind His name Ihave just learned to be B Striker have more correspondence but it no being ready I cannot send it this timeD time-D R F SODA SPRINGS Idaho May 5 R |
