Show A SINGULAR CASE Ell Saxton as Plaintiff a Case Charged with Forging the Answer of the Defendant The case of the People vs Eli Saxton came up for trial in the Third District Court this morning Saxton is charged with forgery committed under rather singular circumstances It appears from the indictment in the case that he had filed a complaint in the Probate Court of Summit County upon which complaint he based a petition for a decree of divorce from his wife Eliza Saxton It is alleged that after filing this complaint Saxton prepared and caused to be filed an answer to it purporting to be the answer of his wife the defendant This answer admitted each and every allegation contained con-tained in the complaint except the adultery adul-tery charge For the forgery of this instrument Saxon Sax-on was indicted by the grand jury of the February term 1884 The following jurors were impaneled this morning Thomas E Jeremy jr Joseph H Matthews Mat-thews John D Spencer John M Mc Laws William F Smith W B Barton Thomas McLelland jr Edward Bird G D Schell Edward Kotch James E Paine and George F Felt Mr Dickson prosecutes and Woods Hoffman represent the defendant Testimony Testi-mony is being taken this afternoon |
