Show INTERSTATE COMMERCE BILL The people of Winnemucca Nevada have held a mass meeting at which a resolution was passed in which they urge that a mass State convention be called to express the sentiments of the people of Nevada by a petition to the Commission to restore section four of the InterState law THE DEMOCRAT in its first notice of the bill predicted that the weakness of the measure would be developed de-veloped in the almost absolute power it conferred upon the Commission Every section of the law might as well have been stricken out except ex-cept the one empowering the President to appoint the Commission leaving it entirely to that body to legis late at their discretion as its functions arc clearly legislative having full power to ignore any portion of the law and to establish such rules as it pleases The bill instead of a step in the right direction di-rection so far has proven a long backward back-ward stride instead of one in advance There is 110 doubt but a largo majority of the people of the United States could a vote be taken upon the question would advocate the repeal of the law |
