Show I THE COLD DAY COMEDY I I Time JLaugliiiiff Burlcsae Success at I the Theatre Last Night That funniest of farces A Cold Day When We Get Left opened at the Theatre last evening to a large audience Almost from the moment the curtain went up on the first act the laughter and applause began and continued without abating in the least until the play was ended In a dramatic sense I A Cold Day When We Get Left can scarcely be termed a play but the sprightly impersonations imper-sonations of character which are brought forth to sustain any dramatic weaknesses caused us in a measure to forget that there should be a plot The spectator is jerked so violently from one explosion of laughter into another that he scarcely realizes re-alizes anything but the sidesplitting variety of the performance and he is not disposed to sift out dramatic errors upon which to base his judgment The inimitable ludicrousness of the performance and the variety of its specialties and the manner in which the members of the Cold Day company fit into their respective parts lead one almost al-most to the conclusion that the play was created for their special adaptation The singing was a prominent feature of the performance and the jig dance in the last act was exceptionably fine There I was only one person mentioned in the play that got Hlef and that was Ben I Buttler when he was shut out ot heaven This extravagant comedy will be repeated re-peated tonight and for those who have an overdose of blues we recommend this play as a powerful antidote for all such poisons |
