Show 0 1 < p i t j I I PEOPLES PART CONVENTION Ii i 1 Jnme Sharp Joseph IS Burton I JC A Smit Ii and WTaylor NOIM I mated for the Council The Council District Convention of the Peoples party met in the City Hall at 12 oclock today to nominate a full ticket for the Council in the coming election on the 2d of August The Council District is composed of Salt Lake Davis and I Tooele counties and delegates from these three counties were assembled to the I number of fortythree The election of a temporary chairman I being in order F D Williams named George r Ottinger and the motion being seconded and put to a vote Mr Ottinger was called to the chair as temporary chairman The election of a temporary secretary was called and upon motion of J H Anderson and it being put to a vote George D Pyper was elected temporary secretary A committee on credentials being called for W O Hardy Rulon lI Wells G 0 Chase George I Grant and T G Webber were appointed by the chair as a committee on credentials The call for the convention made by the Peoples Central Committee for the purpose of nominating four counselors as candidates for the coming election was read by the secretary By motion of the chair the temporary organization was made permanent and Thomas F Roueche elected vicechair man G G Bywater to ac as chaplain and John W Sharp as sergeantatarms After a prayer by the chaplain the secretary secre-tary called the roll and a full membership of delegates was found to be present A committee of nine was appointed by the chair to nominate four candidates for the Council the following gentlemen being named to compose the committee T V Williams Orin P Miller A W Carlson W B lardy William Jeffries David Stoker Moses Martyn H P Richards and William Page The committee submitted their report and nominated as candidates for the Council James Sharp Joseph Barton Elias A Smith and John W Taylor I was moved by the chairman that he I report of the committee on nomina tions be received and upon submitting the question to a vote the nominations were ratified by acclamation The Council convention then adjourned I sine die dieTill I I Till LEGISLATIVE CONVENTION After the adjournment of the Council representatives George lL Ottiuger former for-mer chairman of the Council merchairml organization moved that a temporary organization of the Legislative convention be made I was then moved and voted that the Council organization as confirmed by the Council representation stand as the Legislative convention For locating University lands a committee com-mittee consisting of A W Carleson 0 J Wooleyaud J G Parke was appointed ap-pointed by the chair to confer with the II Territorial Central Committee and make their renort I The organization was then made permanent I per-manent and the roll of delegates to the secretary Legislative convention called by the The committee of three appointed to confer with thc Territorial Central Committee Com-mittee brought in their report and said that the Legislative convention were instructed in-structed to take no action in making nominations in regard to University I school lands A committee of nine consisting of G G I Bywater Joseph Porter John Siddoway J II Dean K R Wells Charles Clark T G Webber G 0 Chace and L M Grant were appointed to make nomina tions for the Legislative Assembly the Legislative nominations to be made for Salt Lake Morgan and Davis counties The nominating committee for the I Legislative Assembly brought in their report which was a follows Salt Lake county John Clark W W liter John Q Cannon D C Young and Orson A Woolley Morgan countyJames R Stewart No other business being before the convention it was adjourned sine die |
