Show I PARK POLITICS I The Democrats Correspondent Sends Particulars Concerning1 Convention The Liberal Convention of Summit county was held at Park City Monday I July llth The meeting was called to order by Col W M Ferry who nominated nomi-nated W J Snyder as chairman and J E Caine as secretary Jag A Williams of Snyderville R Sorenson of Karnas and Jos M Cohen of Park City were appointed as a Committee Com-mittee on Credentials and reported the following names as representatives to the County Convention Park City Thos Stringer J P Thiriot Ezra Thompson G W Gulliver AV I Snyder Thos Cupit M Territorial convention on the 20th inst and E P Ferry E Sorenson JanE Jan-E Caine M G Foote Geo Moore AV II Smith and Thomas Stringer were nominated to act as the delegation The convention nominated the following follow-ing Liberal county ticket Selectman Geo Moore of AVanship ARRPBsnr nnil fYillppfnr T Tnplr hartDistrict District Superintendent of County Schools F C Merrill Coroner Dr C Manter Jos M Cohen moved that the chair appoint a committee of three to select five names to act in the capacity of the County Committee and AVm M Ferry F AV Hoyt P Stockton E Ilarst and Vim Reynolds received the appointment Geo Moore was elected as the regular nominee for Selectman for a full term by a majority of 2i Jno AV Sprague of Coalville being the opposition marty In the case of 0 P Lockhart and T J Me Laughlin the former having receives the nomination by a majority of one the voting was done by ballot resulting in a tie four times AV I Snyder suggested the appointment of a surveyor be left for the committee to fill as there were no nominations by the Convention Carried Car-ried Adjourned THE HEPRESENTVTIVE CONVENTION The Representative Convention met as soon as the County Convention had adjourned ad-journed C H AVithey was nominated byM G Foote as temporary chairman Mr Foote acted as secretary The chair j appointed a committee of three on ere dentials viz Jos E Schenck Barney Riley and T Scheneck who presented the following as the duly accredited delegates dele-gates Park City M G Foote S Stevenson Barney Riley C C AVhitehead Truman Schenck E W Berry Jos M that the tern j porary chairman and secretary be made permanent Carried I E P Ferry took the floor and in a few remarks wished to present a man before the Convention as our representative represen-tative to the Legislature who had during this t-his past administration in that capacity honestly and fairly represented the eo i pie The name that he had the pleasure of placing in nomination was thnt o David C McLaughlin Mr Feiry conf eluded by saying that when Mr McLaughlin Mc-Laughlin was about to taVso his seat in I the Legislature last winter he was told j by his opponent that he should not but he was brave and stood up for his rights and inasmuch as his efforts were crowned crown-ed with success he should receive the nomination i Geo AV Groo was nominated but was defeated by a majority of ten A committee of five was appointed to I act as representatives to the Councilors Convention to bo held at Park City Wednesday July 13th as follows O L Brown Jos M Cohen M G Foote H Newell and David Keith It was suggested that Jos M Cohen i andExPJberry wait on Mr David Mcf Laughlin and demand his presence Mr McLaughlin said substance that j ho anticipated the nomination and if i he succeeded in getting his seat he would work as he did before for the Liberal i cause He was no JackMormon no I Liberal but a radical and if theLiberal element would abide by the convention there was no question thai we could carry this district at the coming election He would have continued to work in be < half of the Liberal ticket had he not received re-ceived the nomination and his future t endeavors will be as those of the past to work only for the gseat Liberal cause > David Keith Stewart Stevenson and Heath were nominated and supported bv the convention to
