Show The Labor Party NEW YORK July HThe World will print today letters from several recognized leaders lead-ers in the Labor political movement throughout the country in reply to a series of questions relative to the new party in the lresidential contest in 1888 and in State and local elections this year Relies were received re-ceived from the leaders in 28 States Fifty nine laboring men replied for themselves or for organized labor in their vicinity They were in favor of independent political action at this falls State and local elections elec-tions Three replies were in favor of not holding a convention till the States had organized or-ganized and nine labor union men replied that a National convention will be held in Cincinnati on February 22d Sixtysix replies were in favor most emphatically em-phatically of nominating n labor candidate for the presidency Four were noncommittal noncom-mittal From the various replies to the question as to tho party from which the new movement move-ment would draw more largely it seems the labor men exdect to get about 70 per cent from the Democratic ranks and thirty from the Republicans |
