Show SEIFERT3 VILLAINY Threatening ComuintilcatlonM Sent to the Lady ana Her Mouser Following up tho article published in yesterdays DEMOCRAT regarding the violinist vio-linist Seifert who was in this city but a few days ago the Denver News of the 2d prints the following interesting story Further developments in the Seifert Osann scandal were brought to light yesterday yes-terday and Seiferts villainy was fully exposed The case is ono of refined cruelty cru-elty from beginning to end and while it forms the foundation of a romance is rendered ren-dered pathetic by the distress of the ladies la-dies involved Mrs Osann was visited yesterday afternoon after-noon by a representative of the News She is still much distressed over the af fafr and her voice quavered as she spoke of the unfortunate occurrence She again read extracts from the letter first received from her daughter in which she details her fortunate escape She tells of how she had refused to do as Seifert had wished whereupon he slapped her and then struck her with his fist seized her by her throat threw her down and then threatened to cut her throat with his penknife She then gives the details of how she made the confidant of an old man who assisted her to escape A LETTER FROM SKIFERT I have just received a letter from Mr Seifert said Mrs Osann as she began to fumble with a largo wellfilled envelope envel-ope in her lap He wants Eugenic to come back to him He has some papers of Eugenics which he threatens to use Mrs Osann then opened Seiferts letter and read a few of the extracts therefrom Some of them contained words of endearment en-dearment in which he tells of his love for the fair beauty He wants her to return to him and unless she does threatens to publish her in the Police Guzette You see continued Mrs Osann my daughter was married when 10 years of ago to Mr Eber Pratt at Van Buren Ark Eugenic at the entreaty and request re-quest of her grandmother who was at that time on her death bed promised that she would marry Mr Pratt who was a very wealthy gentleman I also urged Eugenic to marry him Although Eugenic did not love him yet at my request re-quest and to keep her promise made to her dying grandmother Eugenio married Mr Pratt It was all my fault They went on a wedding tour to New Orleans and on their return Mr Pratt consented to let Eugenic remain with me Ho offered to assist her financially but my daughter preferred to bo independent We came to Colorado for the purpose of getting a divorce for Eugenic but while here she took her maiden name She became acquainted with Mr Seifert who seemed to be infatuated with her She was his pupil and he came often to see us He urged his suit and they were engaged en-gaged But there came reports of Mr Seiferls conduct in New York and the engagement was broken off Eugenic did not love him and he was forbidden the house HIRING A DETECTIVE But Mr Siefert seemed to know that wo had a secret and hired a detective and began to look up our family history He came to us and began to teirEugenie of how sue had made a trip to New Orleans Or-leans with a gentleman Eugenic then got her marriage certificate and some newspapers containing an account of the marriage and showed them to Mr Seifort to fully explain the matter to him He took tIme marriage certificate and papers saying that he wished to show them to the detecrive He still keeps them and refuses to give them up Cant yon get a duplicate of that certificate cer-tificate and are there not proofs of the marriage Oh yes but Mr Seifert is now threatening us with these matters Now there is nothing wrong in the history of the past Euienie was married as I said and the only thing that he has to bring against us is that Eugene went under un-der her maiden name in this city The marriage was my fault Eugenic did not love her husband but married Mr Pratt because her grandmother and I wished her to do so Now Mr Seifert threatens to publish this story in the Police Gazette He is using threats to make Eugenic come back to him Some friends of mine warned us against this man Hs thinks he can now scare us and Mrs Osann nearly broke down crying ae she talked about the affair It was further learned that the young lady is a direct descendant of the Spanish Span-ish nobility her father being tho Count De Silva a Spaniard of high birth and position When her mother married her second husband Osann she took his name Sho is a talented musician has been in demand for concerts of a high order and had no trouble in mingling in the highest social circles Siefertd friends claim that the girl is more than anxious to marry him but the cause of her refusal is based on his former marriage which is an impediment to their union They further assert that the present condition of affairs is only due to a lovers quarrel in which he accused her of acting coolly toward him Miss Osann has not returned home as yet but is expected daily Siefert is still in Albuquerque under tha name of La Blanche and says he will wait just three days for the young lady to come to him and itat the expiration of that time she does not appearhu threatens a terrible revenge Emil Siefert made his first appearance in Denver about eighteen months ago and it was said he came from Buffalo where he had trouble with a wronged husband who put two bullets into him asa as-a parting reminder His record is a bad one and although ho has promised repeatedly re-peatedly to reform yet at this last escapade even his best friends refuse to pin their faith to him |
