Show SHARPS CONVICTION The New York Tribune pays of Sharps conviction The people of this city may well rejoice that right has triumphed in the conviction of Jacob Sharp That such a man should be finally convicted after having the assistance of the best counsel that money could employ is of the highest high-est public importance It will do much to deter othere from grasping after wealth I and corrupting tho sources of government I govern-ment by tho perpetration of similar i crimes Naturally there will be some sympathy for Sharp because of his ago and poor health But sympathy has no place when a crime of such magnitude is awaiting punishment Some of the men whom Sharp dragged down to infamy by his tempting offers are already in prison It is peculiarly appropriate that he should keep them company and it will be fortunate if his accomplices are soon madelo follow him |
