D Rosser wrote a book published online that has a few hints for helping helping help help- ing students manage the stress of college life First of all each stud student nt- nt needs to get their priorities and goals in order before they can seriously master the role of a well rounded college student Learn to break things up into categories categories cate cate- categories gories and priorities One suggestion is look at what is due soonest and what is going to be the most time consuming make those your top priorities all other tasks will fall into place as long as you yoli plan and give yourself enough realistic time to complete each assignment In other words avoid cram cram- ming Plan ahead prioritize prioritize prioritize priori priori- and decide your goals Know what path you want to go down and what your talents are said Rosser in her book so you can be applying all of yourself to your success Health is also a key to becoming successful and str stress free free ss-free college student Many students experience problems when their health declines and they end up falling behind and not being able to catch up with peers Healthy eating getting enough sleep exercise and fresh air are valuable tools in preventing stress There are only seconds everyday what we dont don't use we can never capture again agam said Rosser So use time wisely and productively Sleep a word that doesn't seem to fit into many college college col col- college col- col lege students student's vocabulary J Many th think that attending n an all night bash is more i important than be well rested rested rested rest rest- e ed for class the next morn morn- 1 ing in g. g Being well rested has so n mu much h to do with keeping your stress level down Know Kno thyself said Rosser some people can get by with only six hours of S sleep a night where as others others oth oth- e ers need several more Fast food is a college f favorite but it isn't known for its high energy content The Freshman 15 becomes reality for people with a high fat diet that fast food often gives Make sure to keep a healthy diet and regular regular regular reg reg- reg- reg U ular exercise plan a part of y your everyday routine Another problem that seems to come up a lot inthe inthe in inthe the college setting is partying party party- ing Partying is a problem for many students stated Rosser Alcohol cigarettes cigarettes cigarettes ciga ciga- and drugs will only cause harm to your yourself self and others It can ruin a persons person's persons person's per per- persons person's sons son's life Every year smart and capable students flunk out of school because they engage in too many evenings out and end up not studying enough These suggestions should be helpful to students in this year and years to come Good luck with your stress free and fun filled fall semester |
