W Canning The Globe The 2006 2005 school year has officially officially off off- begun and like the beginning of every other semester the old parking monster has once again reared its it's ugly head During the first part of the semester usually lasting at least the first weeks is parking at main campuses horrendous Unless you either stalk a person leaving campus or have an early start to your classes there is really no chance of finding a decent parking spot In the past students have been able to park in the visitors visitor's lot to save walking time for those latecomers but this is no longer allowed Beginning in July vehicles with parking permits will not be allowed to park in the visitors visitor's visitors visitor's visitors visitor's tors tor's lot whether their permit is displayed displayed displayed dis dis- played or not This change of policy was meant to free up space for true visitors visitors visitors vis vis- of the campuses If a vehicle is parked in the lot longer than 15 minutes and has a permit it will be ticketed As normal students at Jordan South City and Redwood campuses are required to have a parking permit which are available for purchase at the Parking Services offices at each cam cam- pus Vehicles that do not have a valid permit will be ticketed Also just as in years past students will only be allowed to park in student lots which are distinguished by yellow parking stall lines Students caught parking in inthe inthe inthe the blue staff and faculty lots will be ticketed Other changes this year mostly affect Redwood Campus which is main and largest campus At Redwood students can not park on the soccer fields on the western side of campus like has been allowed in previous years Also a small lot has been added next to the tennis courts on the northwest corner corner corner cor cor- ner of the campus To help accommodate for the excess number of cars that will be parking at the first few weeks of school there will be three overflow parking lots available when all other lots are full The first such lot will make the perimeter road that runs along the east eastside eastside eastside side of campus a way one-way street running running running run run- ning south to north this will allow in back-in angle parking along the road The second overflow lot will be located near the Eisenhower Junior High Schools School's pedestrian overpass along Redwood Road near the buildings this will be a gravel lot that can be accessed from parking lot V. V The third and final overflow parking lot will be located north of the canal on 2200 West Plan to arrive early and be patient stated an announcement on the school To help everything run as smoothly as possible in the parking areas Parking Services employees will willbe willbe willbe be directing traffic during peak class hours which usually begin at am a.m. The Parking Services staff will do everything within their ability to get students faculty and staff parked safely and as conveniently as possible |
