Show B Campus Elections Chris Wade Contributing Writer The candidates are preparing for the final stretch of this long election season and it all comes down to the voting held this week Each candidate has run a competitive campaign time will tell if their efforts have paid off Didn't Didot realize we were having elections Youre You're not alone nobody else realized it either Currently walking around campus if you look very hard you just might see seethe seethe seethe the elusive and very rare campaign poster Running for student body positions there is a guy with his shirt off and two others guys capitalizing on the change idea as that seemed to work for I have no idea what their names are where they stand on school issues issues or even what they will be running for As of right now I will be voting solely based on the better poster With the schools financial decisions on the theline theline theline line I wanted to educate myself and learn leam about the different candidates The globe contacted the student association hoping to get geta a list of the prospective candidates however even the student association has no idea who's running and no list was available The polls will be open from Sam to March 31 r wand and April 1 and 2 However it seems the student association has no idea where the polling stations will be either When the globe attempted to get information on past voter turn out we again hit a brick wall and none of this information was available The online weekly and monthly calendar also has no mention of events or of which days students can vote Luckily for us the candidates have held meet and greets The last is held today Monday Mar 30 from 1200 1100 pm at the Redwood Campus Meet and greets are a very easy way to educate students on a specific candidates position However the student associate feels that only those attending at the deserve to know what is going on None of the student government speeches or debates will be held at any other campus location The student association is responsible for dividing up funds we have all paid to the different clubs campus events and even the student paper This is a fairly serious position but how can they expect students to take this election seriously when it seems they the candidates dont don't We can all remember high school elections Pep rallies speeches and lockers blanketed with stickers For a few weeks the entire school pretended to care about politics and candidates thought they could really get root beer in inthe inthe inthe the drinking fountains and McDonalds in the cafeteria Whether we believed them or not we still cared At these candidates have real power and are dealing with actual money our money Where did our enthusiasm go As for my vote I must decide based on the only information currently available the posters The poster with the buff guy on onit onit onit it is clever His use of puns and hot button words was witty and shows me he is probably a fun guy to party with His abs arent aren't bad either However his use of color is poor and there is alot a alot alot lot of white on his poster which begs the question Does he pay attention to detail Also he is running alone which causes some concern The other poster has two Iwo guys on it both are dressed in suits and have havea a full color poster The design is much better on the eyes however fairly cliche I think we could all do without ever hearing the words Vote for change ever again Their poster is much smaller than the buff buffone buffone buffone one and seems to be printed off a regular inkjet printer Fiscal responsibility and management of campaign funds come to mind or they could just be cheap It seems that both candidates' candidates posters have their then pros pros and cons I realize I will need to analyze these advertisements in more detail before I can make an educated decision at atthe atthe atthe the polls That's assuming someone figures out where these alleged polls will be located |
