Show Letter to the Editor f t I A College Newspaper When looking into a college newspaper readers expect to see news about college or college related themes not national headlines Lately there has been a growing trend at that has become very disturbing The Globe has become a vehicle for these thes other newspapers instead of an outlet for students Most of the Globe stories are coming from sources like The Washington Post The Los Angeles Times and other notable newspapers In the past few weeks very little has been written by students or the staff at the Globe the students voice has been effectively silenced Since this is a college newspaper which is supposed to address the needs of the students a reality check is needed Even if the Globe is understaffed this is not a reason to forego the submission and editing process Two classes are submitting stories along with the staff writers at the Globe With so many submissions a week there cannot be bea a shortage of student submitted stories This must mean that the editing process has become too much for the current staff Whenever students are in hi over their heads they are told to reach out and seek help The Globe has professional and faculty advisors which are readily available resources for this sort of problem If the editors are indeed over their heads then they ought to reach out for help and find a solution to this growing problem When a student picks up a Globe they do not care about the words swear-words in a Batman comic or other useless drivel they want collegiate substance Believe it or not students actually seem to care about life on campus and the issues that affect them If we want national headlines we will pick up a New York Times or Washington Post when we want campus news or college related stories we reach for the Globe X f Isaac Fisher Student Salt Lake City 1 A.
