Show i The Rocker pushes back Diana Joy Jones Arts Reporter The Rocker was originally to be released on July 30 2008 The films film's release date has been pushed back almost a month to Aug 20 2008 No explanation for the change in release date has been given regardless a screening pre-screening for the movie was held Mon July 28 2008 Plenty of seats were empty at Gateways Gateway's pre- pre screening Twentieth Century Foxs Fox's decision to push back the release date m may y be a reason why the premier had such a meager showing Appropriately The Rocker is is' tame when pitched against movies like last weeks week's Step Brothers Step Brothers raunchy and over the top floats on ona ona ona a f few w laughs Ideally if the film had been cleaned up a bit and shortened Step Brothers would have been a great Saturday Night Live skit This may have saved unsuspecting audiences from an hour and thirty minute headache and an unnecessary hole in their pocket book The Rocker isn't a perfect comedy but perhaps its lighthearted quality will receive more viewer ship nearer to the clo close e of summer The Rocker tells the story of Fish Wilson Bug eyed and chronically unkempt Fish once played drums for the famed and fictitious hair band Vesuvius His dreams are crushed when the band trades him in for a better deal Although Fish chases after the van with over overzealous overzealous overzealous zealous speed his ex band mates leave him to choke on the dust of lost fame Once happy in skin tight attire globs of up make-up and brightly colored sweat sweatbands sweatbands sweatbands bands Fish holds on to his resentment for Vesuvius Fish conforms to office jobs Unfortunately for Fish Vesuvius is still at the top of the charts reveling in rock and roll fame At the mention of his former fOlmer land band his face contorts and office rumbles generally ensue Comically violent circumstances and a relentless grudge forces Fish to move in with his sister Jane Lynch Here Fish reunites with his nephew Matt Josh Gad Matt and fellow band mates encourage Fish to j join oin them in their school high-school band ADD Attention Deficit Disorder A washed up ex-drummer ex intertwines with angst ridden teens and a load of familiar messages follow such as its never too late to reclaim fame and a band should stick together despite promises of slimy managers and believe in your self to the bitter end The Rocker doesn't It 1 1 I Ig g Nf-i Nf it 1 i 1 r 1 L If t iS t t 9 dit I L 1 w y I IX X StA 3 4 y J.
