A Bioteau and colorful flower flowerpots flowerpots flowerpots pots are placed near entry ways and other strategic c locations throughout the Redwood campus Campus grounds keepers have been busy through Spring installing new new sprinkler equipment planting flower beds getting rid of weeds to provide a ape pe peaceful inspirational nal setting for students to study Its a constant challenge to stay on top of things says Grounds Manager Phil Paro He managers a crew of 30 employees at Redwood Campus 10 10 at Jordan Campus and five at South Cit City Campus One of the student employees Suzanne e Y Young u glas has a sU summer summer une j job b Grounds Continued on Z L 1 Photo by Susan Roylance Suzanne Young a student employee works on Redwood Campus grounds Grounds Groundskeepers Groundskeepers keepers keepe s Continued from A I 1 working on the grounds She is is' in her first year at taking classes in History Communication and Micro-Biology Micro this semester working toward a degree in nursing Another employee Chris Chisholm supervises the irrigation He graduated from in spring in Applied Science and will willbe willbe willbe be going to the U to get a b b b degree in Physical Therapy He has been working on the campus grounds for six years full time for the last three years while going to college The cool spring and many rains has contributed to a alush alush alush lush green carpet extending from one end of the campus to the other Now with the increased hot weather irrigation is critical The irrigation crew is in the final stages of updating the sprinkler system around the Technology Building to give better water coverage A gorgeous array of flowers in a variety of colors greets students faculty and staff as they enter the Redwood campus from the southeast parking lot Last fall an underground utilities tunnel was extended into this area As the dirt was replaced new flower beds were created I like to hide from the sun Its It's comfortable inthe in inthe inthe the shade says Hoa Le a student from Vietnam She Slie enjoys sitting in the shady area around the blue fountain near the center of Redwood Campus Flower Flowerpots Flowerpots Flowerpots pots in the area also add splashes of vibrant color Other campuses also provide an attractive learning environment The Utah Arts Council recognized the Jordan campus ampus as a graceful setting conducive to social interaction They applaud the campus design which provides a hierarchy of spaces that reward a visitor with a rich variety of volumes and vistas Creative plantings of trees shrubs and flow flowers rs enhance the unique campus architecture Native grasses planted in attractive designs on the Jordan campus also provide an environmentally friendly feeling The beauty on campuses creates an inspirational atmosphere of learning for the students but it represents a lot of hard work for the grounds crew Its a real challenge says Paro just to keep up with the watering I |
